About
A little background, interests, and what this site is for.
Hey! I am Kian - currently a medical student with a strong academic interest in plastic surgery, and a broader curiosity about how medicine changes when it intersects with technology, data, and culture.
The research I've been involved in spans outcomes analysis, systematic reviews, and emerging applications of artificial intelligence in surgery. I am particularly interested in the usage of data science within medicine/plastic surgery (a la computational plastic surgery).
Alongside formal academic work, I enjoy recreationally writing. However this more so can span a real wide variety of topics, but mostly people, and just generally exploring that through my own lived experiences. Some of these reflections live on my Substack; others are still forming (in my phone's notes app ahahahahah).
Outside of work, I love to train regularly (was a former very amateur calisthenics athlete), I like to draw - mostly oil pastels and am generally keen to just collect hobbies where I can!!
This site is a more of a personal umbrella space. It hosts my academic output, ongoing projects, and writing, but it is also a snapshot of how I think at this stage of my wider life and career. It is not static, and it is not meant to be exhaustive!
